Torsten Bell appointed as new Director of the Resolution Foundation 4 September 2015 Today (Friday) the Resolution Foundation announced that Torsten Bell has been appointed as its new Director. He will work alongside the Resolution Foundations recently appointed Executive Chair, David Willetts. Previously, Torsten worked as a Treasury civil servant before becoming special advisor to Alistair Darling during the financial crisis and then Director of Policy for the Labour Party. Torsten will be in post from the 15th September. The Resolution Foundation is an award winning, non-partisan, research and policy institute that works across the political spectrum to inform public debate and find common ground on effective ways of helping raise the living standards of those on low to middle incomes. Under its new leadership RF will continue to build on its reputation for leading analytical work – on issues such as low pay, full employment and welfare reform – while giving new emphasis to challenges such as inter-generational equity and raising productivity. David Willetts, Executive Chair of the Resolution Foundation, said: “I’m delighted that Torsten is joining us. He has first rate analytical skills and will think creatively about how to make Britain a more prosperous society.” Torsten Bell, Director of the Resolution Foundation, said: “It’s a privilege to be joining the Resolution Foundation to build on its outstanding reputation and lead the next phase of its development. Ensuring those on middle and low incomes can prosper in 21st Century Britain is the biggest policy challenge facing our country today. “I look forward to working with David to develop the next stage of the Foundation’s work to address this challenge.”
