But changes in the labour market, educational opportunities and the wider economy mean that different generations face different work and pay-related challenges, shifting across the life course.
Britain’s strong jobs growth means that just about all cohorts today have higher employment rates than predecessors did at the same age. The data in this section demonstrates how employment rates have changed across time for different birth cohorts, and explores who has benefited from the recent jobs boom.
