The COVID-19 pandemic has affected almost everyone’s working life, but in very different ways – from remote working, to being furloughed and losing work altogether. The speed and scale of rising unemployment in many countries has been unprecedented. And with the crisis far from over, unemployment is likely to get far worse before it gets better. In this webinar, Nobel laureate Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides will set out his thoughts on the nature of the jobs crisis we face, and what that means in terms of the policy response, before we hear from US labour market economist Professor Tara Sinclair. Viewers are able to submit questions to the panel before and during the event. The Resolution Foundation and the Money, Macro and Finance Society are co-hosting a series of webinars to dive into the big economic challenges thrown up by COVID-19.
