Accessibility Statement

The Resolution Foundation is an independent charitable think-tank. The objects of the charity are primarily to promote research and the education of the public into the effect of economic, social and financial factors on living standards for those on low-to-middle incomes. We are committed to increasing access to both the content of our work and our employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The statement below details some of the action we take to meet this commitment.

Measures to support accessibility

Measures taken by the Resolution Foundation to ensure accessibility include the following:

• Prioritising accessibility throughout our internal policies
• Integrating accessibility into our recruitment practices
• Devising and assigning clear accessibility goals and responsibilities
• Employing formal accessibility quality assurance measures.

Accessibility of www.resolutionfoundation.org

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Resolution Foundation is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level A. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Although our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level A conformance, we have also applied some Level AA Success Criteria, including captions on our live stream videos and ensuring we have no images of text containing any more than incidental content.

Technical specifications

Accessibility of www.resolutionfoundation.org relies on HTML to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer. We rely on HTML for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Resolution Foundation website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for www.resolutionfoundation.org include:

1. We are working towards ensuring that every website action can be performed using only a keyboard.
2. We are working towards ensuring all our content is compatible with assistive technology.

3. At present, we have not yet been able to ensure there is minimum contrast of 4.5:1 among website elements. While this standard is applied in all our publications and to some areas of website text, we are aiming to extend this to all areas of our website.
4. Our website does not currently include additional web accessibility tools, such as a colour switcher and text resizer.

Accessibility of Resolution Foundation publications

We aim to facilitate and encourage circulation of all our work as widely as possible. All Resolution Foundation publications are available free for download as a pdf subject to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 International Licence. We are also happy to provide copies of reports in alternative formats upon request.

Accessibility of Resolution Foundation events

We strive to ensure our events are accessible to all attendees, with a hearing loop and wheelchair access available for events held at the Resolution Foundation office, 2 Queen Anne’s Gate SW1H 9AA. We also include automatic captions on all livestreams, although these can take a short time to appear as we rely on YouTube for this functionality. Where events are held at external venues, accessibility is prioritised as a key requirement.

Accessibility information for job applicants

We value and are committed to increasing diversity within both our own organisation and the economic policy making sector more widely. We welcome applications and expressions of interest from all candidates with disabilities and are happy to make reasonable adjustments in advance.  We offer pre-application chats for candidates with disabilities so they can assess the demands of the job and ensure the working environment is suitable for them. For some roles, we also offer the option to opt into a guaranteed interview scheme.

We have achieved Disability Confident Level 1 status which means we are committed to providing inclusive, accessible recruitment procedures and reasonable adjustments to meet employee needs. We are currently working towards achieving Level 2 status.
