Professor Richard Davies is a Professor at Bristol University and Director of the Economics Observatory. He joined the Centre for Economic Performance in 2016 as Chief of Staff of the LSE Growth Commission. Previously he was Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers at HM Treasury, an economist and speechwriter at the Bank of England, and Economics Editor of The Economist
