January is traditionally a time to take on exciting new challenges, and British politics is no exception. The country faces a number of domestic issues beyond Brexit, from the shape of the public finances and the quality of public services to getting living standards growing again. What domestic policies should the government and opposition focus on to tackle these challenges? Is there scope for more radical policies, or should politicians re-focus on the centre ground of voters who are waiting to be won over again? Does British politics need a big shake up? To debate and tackle these issues the Resolution Foundation hosted a double header of events at our offices in Westminster with political commentators and leading MPs from both parties, with each setting out their ideas for the year ahead. This was followed by a debate and audience Q&A.
